Charlotte Metro Electronic Crimes Task ForceThe Charlotte Metro Electronic Crimes Task Force (CMECTF) is a U.S. Secret Service led multi-agency task force created to investigate and combat electronic and financial crimes. The task force concentrates its efforts on the investigation of cyber crime, computer crimes, network intrusions, online enticements, hacking cases, website defacements and identity theft relative to the security of financial and personal information.

About the CMECTF

The CMECTF investigates counterfeit corporate checks, bank fraud, embezzlements, credit card fraud and identity theft. All of these crimes may involve the use of computers. The task force also actively works to inform and educate private citizens and local businesses in areas of cyber safety and security.

It is the goal of the CMECTF to work with all of its Metro-Charlotte area partners to investigate these crimes in a cohesive fashion.

Members of this task force include the federal and local law enforcement community, as well as financial institutions, academia and members of the private sector involved in computer security.
